Slowly and steadily, we are recovering from the impact of the pandemic which has reigned over us for more than 2 years and kept us confined to our homes. Attending online classes and online meetings from the comfort of our beds in our pajamas had become the way of life. However, with work from office and offline classes resuming, it is time for us to ditch the pajamas and the comfort and get ourselves back on track.

While it has certainly been comfortable, let us admit that constant staying at home and wearing the same old pajamas every day had started feeling dull and dreary and led to exhaustion. Our good old favourites, as well as new clothes, lay in the cupboards, with no occasion to wear them. However, returning to the old way of life also means that it is time for us to get those clothes out as well as upgrade our closets. It is time for us to bring back the vibrancy and colours in our life through our wardrobe and recover from pandemic exhaustion.

“Dopamine Dressing” has become the buzzword of 2022. The term coined by fashion psychologist Dr. Dawn Karen has certainly gained much significance after the pandemic.

Is it possible to feel happier just by wearing our favourite shades? Well, Science definitely agrees.

Colour Psychology says that colours have the power to impact us in various ways. They can make us happy, sad, calm, angry, and even hungry! Colour Psychology is vastly implemented in marketing strategies and even while designing homes and other spaces. That being said, it has been found that simply wearing your favourite shades can promote the secretion of dopamine, the feel-good hormone. Wearing brighter hues such as yellow, red, and orange is associated with boosting happiness while cooler hues such as blue, and green can make you feel calmer. Certain colours and textures hold deeper psychological meaning to us thus promoting certain emotions. And hence, getting a good dose of dopamine can be as simple as wearing your favourite clothes. Even if you don’t believe in it, no one can deny that dressing well and experimenting with colours and styles can be fun and creative. What better way to recover from pandemic boredom than to go and paint the town red, either solo or with people, wearing some gorgeous hues?

The pandemic has given us all the more excuses to add more colours to our everyday lives and celebrate ourselves.

So, what colour will you be wearing today?
